Excuse me, have we been formally introduced?
January 5, 2009
I was looking at my blog here and all the fun Jake and I have been having and realized that I have not formally introduced myself. So… hello, my name is Jim Stroud.

I work full-time at EnglishCafe as a Social Media Development Manager which means I get paid to do a lot of fun stuff like blogging, podcasting, make videos and encourage online conversations about EnglishCafe. (Pretty much, like, what I am doing now.)

When I am not doing that I am doing the daddy thing or the husband thing, I am doing the "me" thing. The "me" thing is (for the most part) living online; thus the name of this blog. I love beta testing sites, breaking them down and seeing what makes them tick. Beyond that, I like brainstorming how people will use the sites / products and how to market them. Its somewhat of a passion of mine as you will see if you keep reading this blog.

I like to look at everything, but some of my favorite things (that I could not live online without) are Google, Twitter, the iPhone, Diigo and my Flip camera. I could not be a geek without them. Before I was doing Social Media (officially) I was doing it unofficially since 1997.
Here are a few highlights:
- Created a group for MCI alum (XMCI) in 1999
- Started my first blog "Jobseeker’s Revenge" in 2002 and later sold it to CollegeRecruiter.com (2006)
- Created The Jada Pages - a community fansite for Jada Pinkett Smith (2001) and later sold it (2004)
- Created an award-winning blog called - The Recruiters Lounge
If you like to see other stuff I have done such as speaking engagements, media citations and other stuff, please do click here to read my bio. Umm… what else? Oh, I occasionally give webinars (typically free) on a variety of topics. If you want to get on my mailing list, click here. My last webinar was on job hunting and if you missed it… sorry; but no worries, you can click here to see the video. Its about an hour long, so pack a lunch (just so you know).
Last but not least, if you have any suggestions about what to write about, or have questions about something I or Jake have written about, or just want to say "Hey," click here to leave us a message. (Operators are standing by.) If you want to advertise on this site (hallelujah), click here and my sales team (of one) will take care of you.
Okay, that’s it for now.
e’ Ya’ later!
-Jim
